TELECOM ALERT: Site Trunking & Upgrade Schedule

Telecom Alert Logo

Tuesday, March 24th scheduled Statewide Radio System Site Trunking

  • At approximately 7:30-7:50pm the radio system will be in site trunking for the radio system’s Master Controller Version 7.15 upgrade.
  • At approximately 11:30-11:50pm for the radio systems Backup Master Controller Version 7.15 upgrade.

During these times, the system will go into “Site Trunking” – a standalone backup mode that allows us to continue operation on our (9) Warren County towers only. Dispatchers will operate on backup radios with limited talkgroups and capabilities.  End users will operate as normal on their normal Primary and Local Talkgroups; realizing you will go “Out of Range” if you leave the 9 Warren County towers.

Monday, March 30th at 1:30pm Warren County Radio System Data Links Upgrade

  • All (4) Warren County data links to the MARCS Master Controllers in Columbus will undergo the Version 7.15 upgrade, affecting Warren County Dispatcher Consoles and the Warren County Radio System.
  • The radio system will experience (2) 10-minute interruptions. During each interruption, the system will lose half of its radio channels, reducing the number of simultaneous talkgroups that can be in use.  Users may experience busy signals during these 10-minute periods.
  • Warren County Dispatch will broadcast an alert that the upgrade will begin and for radio traffic to be kept at a minimum, if possible.
  • Warren County Dispatchers may have to revert to backup radios with limited talkgroups and capabilities.
  • In the event of severe weather or an emergency in progress, we will postpone the upgrade.

These upgrades bring the Statewide MARCS/Warren County Radio System to the latest software release Version 7.15.  The next planned Statewide upgrade will occur in 2017 when we go to version 7.17.

If you have QUESTIONS – please contact the Radio Division at 513-695-3251 or call me directly.

Thank you,
Paul Kindell
